Tubatse Introduction

   Tubatse Chrome Minerals (Pty) Ltd (Tubatse Chrome Minerals) was established in May 2007.It is a joint venture between Sinosteel Corporation and Samancor Chrome (Pty) Ltd.Sinosteel has 50% shares in Tubatse Chrome Minerals and Samancor has another 50%.

      Tubatse Chrome (Pty) Ltd is a 100% subsidiary company of Tubatse Chrome Minerals (Pty) Ltd and constituted by Tubatse Ferrochrome Plant and Tweefontein Chrome Mine.

     Tubatse Ferrochrome Plant currently has five furnaces with an installed capacity of 30 MVA for three furnaces and 37 MVA for two respectively. The core business of the operation is the production of charge chrome. Combined their annual production capacity amounts to 300,000mt.

    Tweefontein Chrome Mine has an annual salable chrome ore mining capacity of 1 million tons with ore reserve in excess of 76 million tons.The core business is the production of metallurgical , chemical and foundry chrome ores.

    The mine and smelter are situated in Steelpoort, Mpumalanga and are located about 300 kilometers northeast of Johannesburg and has the economic advantage of being close to the extensive chrome ore deposits.
